Terms & Conditions of Use
These terms govern the use of the Belgian Mobility Open Data Portal and its datasets. Please read them carefully before accessing our services.

1. Overview
The Belgian Mobility Open Data Portal (the "Portal") is operated by Belgian Mobility Company (the "Company", "we", "us", or "our"). These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Portal, including all data, APIs, and services provided through the Portal.
The Portal provides access to public transport data from Belgium's major operators: De Lijn, STIB-MIVB, TEC, and SNCB. We offer both free public datasets and premium subscription services with enhanced features.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Portal, downloading data, or using our APIs, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use the Portal.
If you are accessing the Portal on behalf of an organization, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
3. Definitions
For the purposes of these Terms:
- "Data" means all information, datasets, feeds, and content made available through the Portal
- "API" means any application programming interface provided by the Portal
- "Public Data" means freely available datasets under open data licenses
- "Premium Data" means subscription-based data with enhanced features
- "User" means any individual or entity accessing or using the Portal
- "Application" means any software, website, or service that uses our Data
4. Access Rights and Registration
4.1 Public Data Access
Public Data is available without registration and may be accessed by anyone, subject to these Terms. Public Data includes GTFS static datasets and basic real-time feeds.
4.2 Premium Data Access
Access to Premium Data requires registration through our developer portal and acceptance of additional terms. Premium subscribers receive API keys, higher rate limits, and access to enhanced datasets.
4.3 Account Responsibilities
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and API keys. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
5. Permitted Use
5.1 General Permission
Subject to these Terms, you may use the Data for lawful purposes including:
- Developing applications and services
- Research and academic purposes
- Commercial applications and products
- Data analysis and reporting
- Integration with mapping and navigation services
5.2 Redistribution
You may redistribute Public Data provided you comply with attribution requirements. Premium Data may only be redistributed with explicit written permission.
5.3 Modifications
You may modify, adapt, and create derivative works from the Data, provided the original source is properly attributed.
6. Use Restrictions
You agree not to:
- Use the Data for illegal or unauthorized purposes
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble our systems
- Exceed published rate limits or engage in abusive usage patterns
- Share Premium Data API keys or credentials with unauthorized parties
- Create applications that compete directly with public transport operators
- Use the Data to harm or discriminate against individuals or groups
- Remove or alter attribution requirements or copyright notices
- Use automated systems to overwhelm our infrastructure
7. Attribution Requirements
7.1 Required Attribution
When using our Data, you must provide clear attribution including:
- Credit to "Belgian Mobility Company"
- Link to the Portal when technically feasible
- Individual operator credits when using operator-specific data
- Notice that data is subject to these Terms

8. Data Quality and Availability
8.1 Data Accuracy
While we strive to provide accurate and up-to-date information, we cannot guarantee the completeness, accuracy, or timeliness of all Data. Transport schedules and real-time information may be subject to delays, cancellations, and other disruptions.
8.2 Service Availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the Portal or APIs. Scheduled maintenance and unexpected outages may occur. Status updates are available on our status page.
8.3 Data Updates
Data update frequencies vary by type and operator. We make reasonable efforts to maintain published update schedules but cannot guarantee specific timing or availability of updates.
9. Privacy and Data Protection
9.1 Personal Data
Our Data does not intentionally include personal information about individual passengers. If you discover personal data in our datasets, please report it immediately.
9.2 Usage Analytics
We may collect analytics data about Portal usage, including API access patterns, for service improvement and capacity planning. This data is anonymized and aggregated.
9.3 GDPR Compliance
We comply with applicable data protection regulations including GDPR. Our privacy policy provides detailed information about data collection and processing.
10. Limitation of Liability
10.1 Disclaimer
THE PORTAL AND DATA ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
10.2 Limitation of Damages
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.
10.3 Maximum Liability
Our total liability to you for all claims related to the Portal shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or €100, whichever is greater.
11. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be announced through the Portal and our developer portal with at least 30 days' notice. Continued use of the Portal after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
We recommend checking these Terms periodically for updates. The "Last updated" date at the top of this document indicates when changes were last made.
12. Termination
12.1 Termination by You
You may stop using the Portal at any time. For Premium subscriptions, cancellation procedures are outlined in the developer portal.
12.2 Termination by Us
We may suspend or terminate your access for violations of these Terms, abusive usage patterns, or other legitimate reasons. We will provide reasonable notice when possible.
12.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination, your right to access and use the Portal and Data ceases immediately. You may continue to use Data obtained before termination subject to attribution requirements.
13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by Belgian law. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Portal shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Brussels, Belgium.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect.
